On the first day of June, different posts went out. Different flyers and accompanying broadcast messages went out. Most of them conveyed a similar message - it's the mid line of the year, half past 2025.
This evoked an urgent spirit in individuals that must have come across the message. The need to confirm whether the things on their checklist from the beginning of the year have been fulfilled or at least, whether work had begun towards its fulfillment.
In the midst of that, there were some other posts trying to play mathematics and calculus by highlighting that the mid year is by the end of the month/ beginning of July. You know one thing here, it's that time of the month to analyse, restrategise, redraw, erase, pen down, shop for more art equipment and, infact, begin to picture your art being placed at a gallery, or just a wall.
In order to do any of these though, you must accept what stage you're at. No, this is not trying to put pressure on you. Quite differently, take this as your call to action. Still, let your action begin with a little bit of reflection and a large amount of accountability.
Think about these.
Those things you wrote, do you you still want them?
Do you want to make additions to the list?
Do you want to make subtractions?
Do you want to increase or decrease a number you fixed to a certain goal?
Has your circumstance changed?
Is there a new variable?
Is the constant still fixed?
How far have you gone?
What's causing the slow movement?
Is one affecting the other?
Trust me, putting a response to each of these and viewing those responses alongside the list will go a long way in the reflection I'm talking about.
By the way, it's also fine if you don't have a checklist. There's something for you too. Just answer me these.
What's that one thing you wanted to do in January?
What's that thing you decided to stay away from this year?
How good and productive has the year been?
How excited are you for July?
How stressed are you already?
In the mood to detty your December already?
Would you rather 2024 to 2025, why?
The essence of this is that you'd only be able to move forward and give yourself a pat on the back when you realise the steps you've taken and the costs you've incurred. Tha
t's when your profits and losses can be clear enough.
You may have figured that there's quite the mathematics in this letter. Let's just say that I was influenced by those mathematicians on X.
